What does having a white filling involve?
To begin, we numb the affected area of your mouth using local anaesthetic, to keep you comfortable during treatment. We then remove the decayed or broken part of your tooth and clean the leftover tooth thoroughly.
We paint an acidic gel onto your tooth, which allows the composite material to bond effectively and create a solid repair. We carefully colour-match the white composite material to the exact shade of your natural teeth.
The composite is applied to your tooth in layers, gradually building up the correct shape and size. We then mould the composite material so it fits perfectly, feels comfortable, and does not affect your bite.

Many people now opt for a white filling over the more traditional silver amalgam for aesthetic reasons. In the past, white fillings have always been considered less long lasting than silver fillings, but they now have properties comparable to silver amalgam, and are proving to be very successful. A white dental filling has many of the same strong and durable qualities as amalgam and contains no metal.
