Treatment steps to your new smile

  1. Consultation
If you’re interested in dental implants, your treatment journey begins with a consultation. After an examination of your teeth and gums, which may include an x-ray and sometimes a 3D scan, we will confirm you are suitable for treatment and explain the dental implant process to you. You are also encouraged to ask any questions or share any concerns you have.
  2. Planning and preparation
If you are happy to proceed, we will take further digital scans and images of your mouth. These are used to accurately plan the best position for your dental implants. A single implant is typically a direct replacement for your missing tooth, but some patients may need a bone graft or other preparatory treatment. We will take time to discuss this with you in detail.
  3. Fitting your implant
We will skilfully place your titanium implant(s) into your jaw in our calm and relaxed surgery, using local anaesthetic to minimise your discomfort. The fitting appointment is relatively quick, but it will take around 3-6 months for your implant to heal and fuse with your bone. We may also fit a temporary tooth to protect your gum during this time. With All-on-4 dental implants, replacement teeth can be fitted immediately.
  4. Your new smile!
Throughout your healing period, we will keep in touch and check your new implant is feeling good and you are keeping well. Once it has integrated with your jawbone, we will fit your custom-made replacement tooth or teeth, which could be a bridge, crown or denture. These will look beautifully natural and blend perfectly with your existing teeth. Your new smile is ready and you can show it off with pride!

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are seen as a superior way to replace missing teeth. They consist of a titanium post, which looks a bit like a screw, which is placed directly into your jawbone to create a new fixed tooth root. The titanium is very compatible with the human body, fusing to the surrounding bone in a process called osseointegration. This forms a strong and solid foundation for a natural-looking replacement tooth.

Dental implants are a permanent restorative option, allowing you to regain the look, feel and function of natural teeth. Improve your quality of life and boost your confidence – book your consultation today!

Frequently asked questions

Getting a dental implant will not hurt as much as you might expect! The implants are placed surgically but the operation is done very gently and under local anaesthetic. It will be no more uncomfortable than having a tooth extracted. In some cases, a second but much smaller procedure may be needed to uncover the implant, but this rarely causes discomfort.
